Karamagi has extensive experience in Auditing, Finance and Management Consultancy. Joshua trained as an accountant with PwC. He has subsequently held a number of senior positions in the Public Sector including Makerere University, NSSF and Uganda Electricity Generation Company. While an Assistant Commissioner (Treasury) at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, he was in-charge of monetary and fiscal policy for Uganda country budget.

He undertook a deep diagnosis of the Finance Department at Nkumba University which helped them professionalize and streamline their financial reporting. He has also been seconded to Uganda Electricity Generation Company to help them set up robust financial accounting practices as part of their 3-year strategic plan. Joshua has extensive professional accounting experience spanning over 22 years. He was instrumental in transforming the financial discipline at Makerere University, one of the oldest and biggest Universities in East Africa. As the Chief Finance Officer/Bursar, he managed assets worth $300 million and revenues of over $100 million per annum.
